in areas where the skin-to-structure fit isn&#8217;t so good. \u00a0So as an experiment I bought some <a href=\"http:\/\/tinyurl.com\/a75kntt\" target=\"_blank\">Hysol EA9394 from SkyGeek<\/a> and tried it out, first on the conical bends at the rear baggage compartment floor.<\/p>\n<p>The stuff comes in a two-part pack. \u00a0After I mixed it up, I troweled it into a syringe&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_8394.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1754\" alt=\"Hysol processing\" src=\"https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_8394-1024x768.jpg\" width=\"584\" height=\"438\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_8394-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_8394-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_8394-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a>&#8230;and injected it into the areas around the conical bend where the aft skin tabs don&#8217;t nest so well into the center skins. \u00a0The Hysol should fill any gap between the tab and skin, hopefully preventing big dimples when the rivets are set.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_8399.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1755\" alt=\"Hysol on the aft tabs\" src=\"https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_8399-1024x768.jpg\" width=\"584\" height=\"438\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_8399-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_8399-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_8399-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a>I had a little Hysol left over, so I shot some into the gaps left by poorly-fitting aux longerons in the forward fuse. \u00a0Vans makes these parts by joggling the ends, which means that some areas don&#8217;t fit so well.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_8396.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1756\" alt=\"Hysol in the aux longerons\" src=\"https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_8396-1024x768.jpg\" width=\"584\" height=\"438\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_8396-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_8396-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_8396-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a>The proof will be in how the skins look when we rivet them&#8230;I hope this wasn&#8217;t a waste of a day.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So I was reading some posts on Van Air Force about shims and using a flexible epoxy called Hysol as a &#8220;liquid shim&#8221;
