{"id":4137,"date":"2020-04-12T12:31:48","date_gmt":"2020-04-12T16:31:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/?p=4137"},"modified":"2020-04-23T16:36:33","modified_gmt":"2020-04-23T20:36:33","slug":"calling-for-a-taxi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/?p=4137","title":{"rendered":"Calling for a taxi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m following the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eaa.org\/Shop\/ProductCatalog\/Product.aspx?ID=2695484\">EAA Flight Test Manual and Test Cards<\/a> and the last test required before first flight is taxi and brake burn-in. Landing gear and tailwheel setup on the RV-7 are straightforward so I didn&#8217;t anticipate any steering problems on the ground, but like any aircraft test it&#8217;s the things you don&#8217;t expect that can really bite you. And since brake burn-in requires 25-30 knots groundspeed, I planned to verify steering in a large, open ramp area before heading out to the runway for higher-speed stuff.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/IMG_2548-scaled.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4139\" src=\"https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/IMG_2548-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"Taxiing under power~\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1478\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/IMG_2548-scaled.jpeg 2560w, https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/IMG_2548-300x173.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/IMG_2548-768x443.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/IMG_2548-1536x887.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/IMG_2548-2048x1182.jpeg 2048w, https:\/\/mightyrv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/IMG_2548-500x289.jpeg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px\" \/><\/a>Fortunately, the RV-7 is very well-mannered on the ground and I had no problems with brakes or steering as I taxied to the ramp.
